Alliance Air Show 2017
Alliance Air Show October 28 2017 A great day in the sun and sky – I was accompanied by my father on this occasion and I was grateful to have him- There were fighter jets and planes and stunt fliers and skydivers and races and food an wow, Just the history of it all. Every year they put together this showing and so far they have not disappointed. If you have never been – its a great day for friends and family. What does this have to do with Prison? Or ministry? Or both? Good questions. A day at the air show reminds me of the restrictions we all face in life – every one of us. Boundaries. Theses pilots must know them intimately to do what they do. The law of gravity says I cannot fly or just jump up and stay there. I cannot run fast enough to even really try. But then there are the laws of physics and aerodynamics that tell me if I have a large surface and if I can build enough speed and have aerodynamically shaped wings that cause the air to flow over and under them at different speeds – this produces what is know as “lift”. If I disregard the rules, laws, guidelines I will not fly, I will crash. And the damage could be loos of life , property, my health and more! The point is – if I know the rules and boundaries – and I work within those boundaries – I can FLY! I can fly, I can soar I can do ‘the impossible’. For those who are behind bars or walls – the same thing applies – in there – out here – up there. If you use your knowledge and work withing the rules and laws what seems to be impossible – becomes possible! But if I don’t – I will crash and burn. Another lesson here is that this is a safe and legal way to have fun. Somewhere you could bring your family. A place that does not require drinking or any other thing that could get us in trouble just to have fun. A place where I can learn or share with other friends or family. And by learning the boundaries and following the process and procedures – I was granted access to take these beautiful photos to share with all of...

God will often lead us down paths we would not choose ourselves – either because we have our own ideas whats best for us or sometimes we don’t feel called to a particular area or its out of our comfort zone, and sometimes we don’t feel qualified and of course… Sometimes we just don’t want to. God has bee opening doors for my for quite some time I would not normally choose for myself. Most recently He has determined that I could serve Him well in another area of ministry – Pastoral ministry. So February 25th, 2018 I was honored to be ordained and a Minster of the Gospel of Jesus Christ – an ambassador of Ambassadors. And somehow the line form Spider-Man keeps coming to mind “With great power comes great responsibility”. No I am not letting it all go to my head, quit the contrary I feel like I must pay attention to where God just sent me. Out into the mission fields but before I was just another brother in Christ or just another Christian or just another guy. I have not changed me, God did not even change me in this moment. But it is how the world around me perceives me that has just changed. If I now say I am pastor or reverend David Knight I now have a responsibility to my creator now much greater than before because when move up in to positions of leadership or teachers or whatever the expectation is greater for having the right manners, the right answers, the right whatever. James 3:1 Says it quite clearly Dear brothers and sisters, not many of you should become teachers in the church, for we who teach will be judged more strictly. (NLT version) One of my greatest moments of surrender included the prayer that I would Keep doing what I was doing, keep Praising Him, keep doing my bible studied and be the best version of me I could and let him have the rest…and not give others “Another” reason to mock God. So many public figures in Sports, in music, TV, Film, Politics, Business do not take their role responsible to set the example because whether the do it on purpose or not they ARE they examples people will follow. And also people watch for them to stumble or fall and pounce like the vultures they are. How much more so in the church? Are we not in the public eye just as everyday Christians? What about Pastors and Priests and bishops and so on and so on? They have all been human, and some have fallen in a way that is extreme and they are discovered or uncovered by the media etc. Adultery , finance, and more. So when I say I am not making a big deal out of it – the fact is that it IS a big deal whether I like it or not because He is THE big deal. And now I carry a sign that says watch me close. For those watching and waiting. I will fall. I will do something not right. I will say something I shouldn’t – My eyes will wander to places they should not go. I will not ever be perfect. But Its how I get back up after I fall that I want you to see. So is this a time of rejoicing? Of Praising Him? Of Celebration? Of course it is. But is also a time of mediation, and reflection. Remember when you watch your role models that they are human too. And if you...
